Operating Performance

The new wastewater treatment plant was commissioned on October 22, 2002 and operated throughout the 2002/3 summer over the highest population period at Scott Base. After the initial four weeks of operation during which the biofilm developed, the Plant has produced an effluent typically containing <10 mg/L of BOD5 and SS and <10 cfu/100 ml faecal coliforms.
